Challenge
This company is the UK’s largest privately owned software house. It provides package and bespoke software to a wide range of industries. Its largest division moved from a line of business model to a functionally based organisation as a platform for greater efficiencies and growth.
Delivery
Nick was brought into the new position of CIO to merge the large number of small teams into a strategic development and support function. In this role Nick managed 140 staff and an Opex budget of some £4M.
Outcome
- Re-organised a wide number of small teams into three major development centres, closing two offices in the process, whilst maintaining delivery dates on all major products
- Improved the company’s standard quality measure (DCE) by 50%
- Moved the adherence to the company’s standard methodology from an average of 40% to 85%
- Introduced Agile development.
- Reduced the support backlog by 50% in a year
